How many times have you heard that religion and politics don’t gel?

As I posted previously, this month I will be sharing with you a series of videos related to several topics which affect our lives and our beliefs. It will give you a different aspect of what does it mean to be a Christian and relate our beliefs to everything else that is around and surround us. When we hear things like “religion and politics don’t gel or don’t go together” it sounds obvious and many people, including Christians agree to this mentality. The phrase even give us a reasoning sensation of “it is common sense!”. However if you believe in anything, regardless if you are religious or not, even if you are an atheist you believe in something. So, at the same time you are some sort of political figure, maybe an influential person, or just a member of the society interested about life and ways of living, surely you are taking your beliefs with you and you are taking them into politics. It is impossible to detach our beliefs from anything we do and this include all areas of our lives. The difference is how well we understand our beliefs and how we use them in what we do. If we use them for our own benefit and the benefit of only our social groups, then we are being selfish.

In plain words, it is impossible to separate individuals from their beliefs and it does not matter what they do as profession, their beliefs will influence their actions and their work. Therefore the phrase “religion and politics don’t gel”  does not exist because one belongs to the other and one makes the other.

The audio/video I am sharing with you today is from Joseph Mattera who talks about politics and the church. He addresses the biblical responsibility for the Christians regarding politics, society, family and their church. In this audio/video he is addressing to the Americans because he was talking to the Americans but Joseph teachings apply to all societies and cultures.
